General Information

The Adur Outdoor Activities Centre (AOAC), is situated on the banks of the picturesque River Adur at Shoreham. The Centre offers a wide range of outdoor and adventure activities as well as residential, social and conference facilities. With an indoor climbing and bouldering wall, through to our activities on the water with kayaks and canoes to mountain biking across the South Downs the centre has something to offer all ages and abilities. AOAC run a variety of courses across all areas of the centre.

What does the centre have to offer?


Indoor climbing wall

Climbing Wall:

  • Over 350m2 of climbing wall routes from beginner to advanced level
  • Open daily to the public (please see opening times)
  • Separate bouldering area
  • ‘Rockhoppers’ – The centre’s Junior climb club for ages 8-17

School Holiday Activity Programmes

The centre organises activities for young people during school holidays and half term breaks (exluding Christmas holidays). Details of these special events are available approximately 4 to 5 weeks before the holiday period begins.

Group Parties:

Celebrate your special occasion with AOAC! The centre can offer you a variety of activities. Alongside climbing, kayaking, canoeing & mountain biking why not try your hand at raft building or kite making or try the centres low ropes course! These activities can be tailored to all age groups.

Conclude your occasion in our private social area complete with a fully functioning kitchen, to serve up your tasty food! Hire charge applies.

School / College/ Group Activities

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Centre is now running Silver and Gold D of E units. Every other Mon evening. Please contact the centre if you are 16yrs and over and are interested in participating.

AOAC also provides BEL (Basic Expedition Leaders) Award for those 18yrs and over who wish to take groups out for walking/hiking and camping over night. Useful if you want to be a Duke of Edinburgh's Award leader. Please see BEL brochure in documents page.
