The
Ardeche Gorge

| This
page will be kept updated with pictures of Centre activities including
trips away from the Centre.
The
most recent trip was a Whitewater Kayaking trip to the Ardeche
in April / May 2005. The paddlers also went to the artificial
whitewater course near Vienne, at St Pierre de Boeuf.
This
trip will be running again next year in spring 2006. Interested
paddlers would be welcome to email and let us know of interest
in any of the trips. Potential kayak coaches can achieve BCU Level
3 Trainee Coach status during this trip (subject to the pre-requisites
being held). |

The
Ardeche can be a very busy river in the main part of the season,
but we usually go in May or June before it becomes too crowded
(and the water is usually higher!).
Many
of the holiday activity companies use the river extensively
at this time of the year but in the early part of the season
there are not many other groups on the river.

The
artificial whitewater course near at St Pierre de Boeuf is an
ideal place to warm-up for a trip to Southern French whitewater
and is Grade II - III. It has a superb wave and a couple of
stoppers amongst other features. The campsite that we use is
only 500 metres away and the course is open all day long.
Although
it is used quite heavily at weekends it is easy to get on the
waves and in the stoppers during the week, particularly out
of the main summer season. The water is also warm and clean!

CLIMBING
WALL
The
Climbing Wall at the Centre is used by many youth groups as
well as the general public.
Courses
are run each school holiday to introduce young people to climbing
on the Wall.
Some
pictures of the young people at the Rockhoppers Club and on
the half-term climbing courses are shown opposite and below.

SUMMER
