One of the most testing types of activities for school, college and adult groups, is the range of problem-solving tasks that the centre can set to test their initiative. The tasks are designed to bring out the leadership skills in the individual and develop the teamwork of the group. Time is given at the end for a short review of the session to understand the process that has led to the decisions being taken and the success of the exercises.
The Centre has a selection of problems that can challenge the collective experience of the group, and help to bring out the leadership qualities of individuals. The tasks will help encourage development of those essential team skills that ensure co-operation with other team members and focus their minds on solving the puzzles. Team building is often paired with the Low ropes session to get the full range of team building activities.

The activity often fits well as part of a day long programme that includes Team building and kite making. The course is set outside, to relevant clothing would be required.
Raft building is activity that combines team building with water-based skills, and can be run as a separate 2-hour session for groups of young people or adults. This activity (or canoeing/kayaking) is an ideal session in combination with a dry activity such as Mountain-Biking or Orienteering to make up a whole day at the Centre.
The challenge is to build a seaworthy craft from logs, barrels and ropes, and then to paddle and race the raft over a set course, accompanied by the centre safety boat. This combination of design skills, ropework and knots, team co-operation and paddling skills, is a great way to develop the potential of a group and it is also a lot of fun.
One options for groups that attracts a lot of interest is the Kite-building workshop that we do. There are different levels of difficulty for the kite-making projects and the task involves teamwork and care from the young people.
The activity often fits well as part of a day long programme that includes a more dynamic activity or as a bad-weather alternative. The kites themselves are in kit form and once made the young people have the opportunity to fly them outside, weather permitting.
